Meditate for ten minutes each morning before looking at any digital device. One of the worst habits most of us develop is to clamor for our phone within the first moments of waking up. We seek a dopamine hit instead of allowing our minds to orient and be primed for the day. This is horrendous for our mental health.
Don’t worry about effort or even results with this practice. Just get into the routine of sitting quietly before you do anything else. You can enjoy your morning drink. You can have your eyes open or closed. The critical piece is noticing your thoughts. Make that your source of interest instead of nonsense on a screen. You should find that this improves your entire day by letting your mind ease into things instead of jolting it awake. After all, a thorough warm-up makes any workout more effective. Consider this your mental warm-up for the day.
