In my upcoming article, I will discuss trauma. One of the best books I’ve read about this topic is The Trauma Heart by Judy Crane. I’m grateful to my friend and 3 Doors Down guitarist Chris Henderson, who recommended it on Episode 13 of the RARE SENSE Podcast. Crane has over thirty years of experience helping people struggling with addiction and runs two internationally acclaimed treatment centers in Florida, The Refuge and The Guest House Ocala.
At the heart of addiction is trauma, and her book combines her personal experiences and expertise on the subject with stories and reflections written by her patients. Each chapter concludes with questions allowing the reader to examine and potentially work to overcome whatever they’ve endured. If that interests you, I encourage you to dive in.

Seems overcoming some trauma is an elusive goal. Since losing my son to a tragic window fall in 2011, I have come to realize that the ultimate goal is not to overcome it; rather, it is to learn to live with it. It’s like an amputee - the limb never grows back. We only learn to adjust stride, gate, and pace to live with it.

I can only imagine brother. I think you might find this book helpful. Especially the written exercises.
Thanks for the recommendation - suprisingly, I had not heard of this book or author before - I will check it out...
